Who is Harmeet Dhillon?
Harmeet Kaur Dhillon (born 1969) is an American lawyer and Republican Party official. She is best known for her work as a lawyer for former President Donald Trump and for her unsuccessful bid to lead the Republican National Committee in 2023.
Early Life and Career
Dhillon was born in Chandigarh, India, and moved to the United States at a young age. She earned her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley. After graduating, she worked as a trial lawyer at a private firm before founding her own law firm, Dhillon Law Group, in 2002.
Political Career
Dhillon entered politics in 2016 when she became a California delegate to the Republican National Convention. She gained attention for delivering a Sikh prayer during the convention.
In 2017, Trump appointed Dhillon to the National Infrastructure Advisory Council. She also served as Vice Chairwoman of the Republican National Committee from 2017 to 2021.
Run for RNC Chair
In 2023, Dhillon ran for Chair of the Republican National Committee. She was ultimately unsuccessful, losing to incumbent Ronna McDaniel.
