Bo Naylor Out of the Lineup Wednesday
Guardians Top Prospect Naylor Dealing With Back Soreness
Cleveland Guardians top prospect Bo Naylor will not be in the lineup Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox due to back soreness, manager Terry Francona said.
Naylor, 23, is hitting .275/.358/.583 with 21 homers and 73 RBIs in 96 games this season. He is considered one of the best catching prospects in baseball and was added to the Guardians' 40-man roster in November.
With Naylor out of the lineup, the Guardians will likely start Austin Hedges at catcher. Hedges is hitting .242/.321/.476 with 15 homers and 60 RBIs in 97 games this season.
Naylor's Back Soreness
Francona said that Naylor's back soreness is not believed to be serious, but the team is being cautious with him.
"He's got a little bit of back soreness," Francona said. "We're going to give him a day to see how he feels. We don't think it's anything serious, but we want to make sure he's good to go before we put him back in the lineup."
Naylor is expected to be day-to-day with the back soreness.
Impact on the Guardians
Naylor's absence from the lineup is a blow to the Guardians, who are fighting for a playoff spot.
